Infuse your modern decor with a delicately hand-carved and handpainted Bani Thani Lamp, inspired by one of India's most famous art forms from Rajasthan!

Bani Thani refers to an Indian miniature painting, painted by Nihâl Chand from the Marwar school of Kishangarh. The art portrays a woman who is elegant and graceful. The painting’s subject, Bani Thani, was a singer and poet in Kishangarh during the time of king Sawant Singh (1748–1764). Nihal Chand, a Kishangarh artist, first painted her side portrait in the mid-18th century upon Singh’s instructions.

His depiction included elongated facial features with arched eyebrows, serpentine spiraling hair, a pointed nose and sharp chin with deeply curved and lotus-like eyes, all of which led to the birth of a style of painting that has become rare today. According to a legend, her skin was so pure that when she sipped water, it was visible through her neck.

  • Handcrafted from pure white marble that adds a resplendent touch to your decor when lit in the night light.
  • The minute Bela-work and handpainted Bani Thani add a touch of royal heritage to your modern space in the daylight
  • Highly recommended to gift this legacy to a loved one.
